Hello 2010.

2009 has come and gone. 2010 has just began. Come April, it would have been five years since I started a food blog. This blog has seen me through good days and bad. I have grown along with the blog, and along with my readers.

I have been a very bad food blogger and I am surprised people still read my blog despite my lack of posts. But I am grateful. Grateful for the opportunities this blog has brought me and most of all, for the friends I have made.

Lately, while going through my old photos, I came across a photo taken at the very first Food Blogger’s lunch. It was held at Mag’s Wine Kitchen. Aun of Chubby Hubby and June of Nibble Scribbles, together with Gwenda of TAOTT organised it.  21st July 2005. A very young (21 years old!) me, together with eleven other food bloggers gathered for the first time to enjoy a lovely meal and of course exchange food banter. Reading my old blog post about the lunch, along with Chubby Hubby’s, brought alot of memories. Before I sound like an old bird, I would like to say that I am very glad to still be in touch with this bunch of people.

The local food blog scene has grown immensely. You won’t be able to count the number of food blogs here even if you use your fingers and toes. Last year, at our annual food blogger’s lunch, there was twice the number of bloggers present. Naturally, when a network gets bigger, it’s harder to develop close relations with every individual. Maybe that is why I am still sentimental about the very small bunch of bloggers that I’ve grown to become good friends with. Alot of people I’ve met over the past five years have made a mark in my life. Even last year, I manage to meet a few that I can really relate to.

In other words, this blog has grown to become a part of me. An extension of myself. I realise that I feel empty if I don’t blog. So for 2010, my goal is to keep blogging. To actively write about my food adventures, both in and out of the kitchen.

And lastly, to continue to build those friendships I’ve garnered, and of course, create new ones.

I am very excited about this year. I truly am. Especially with this new blog space. It is still in-progress, but I thought I should update it and inform you or else you’d think I had really disappear.

It is so good to be back.
