The Orange Thimble

The Orange Thimble - Storefront

The amount of indie cafes popping up on this island is insane!

It was only 5 years ago when hanging out at a cafe meant drinking coffee or tea Starbucks or Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf.

Not like it’s a bad thing. I celebrate the increasing popularity of the cafe culture. That means more cool places for me to chill out with friends.

Grille Gates

A recent little cafe I came across is the one at Eng Hoon Street, at the Tiong Bahru area.

Cosy corners

Immensely cosy and warm, the space felt very much like a home.

Our couch

There are couches and arm chairs that were mighty comfortable. The textured walls featured artwork that can be bought.

Another cosy corner

We were there for dinner and ordered two of their known favourites (yes i googled and did my due research).

The BBC (Bacon, Brie, Cranberry) sandwich was a palate pleaser. He kindly shared half of it with me, yay.

And I had the English Breakfast burger, which I thought was pleasant but nothing to rave about.

The English Breakfast Burger

After the burger, I still felt very hungry. So we settled for ice-cream – chocolate and baileys. And I do think the ice-cream shades reflected our own. Haha. Inside joke. Moving on…

Chocolate & Bailey's icecream

I do so adore the little gem biscuits they serve with their coffee and tea. I thought their cappuccino was good and I loved the thick foam.

Earl Grey Tea

His Earl Grey was just what it is… erm, Earl Grey.

This place will go down in my favourite list. Now now, which cafe is next?

I love that there are more coffee places for us to explore and thanks for introducing us to this new one 🙂 The coffee looks strong the way I like it, and the decor is simple and lovely.

Hi Cheryl,

Don’t know if you still remember me but it’s been ages! Have you tried Joe & Dough yet? Another sandwich and coffee joint. I’m working there atm, drop by for a cuppa and a sarnie when you are free. There’s 2 stores available, one at Suntec City just outside Carrefour and the other at Hitachi Towers just opp Collyer Quay. See you around!
