Prelude to a busy week

When I heard that Wild Rocket was opening burger bench and bar in Cathay Cineleisure Orchard last year, I was excited. More so because I’d rather them take the space than Subway. As a Wild Rocket burger & Relish fan, it was interesting to see what they would come up with.

Hats off to them for good marketing. Not only do they know how to sell burgers by outlining its wholesome goodness, they also know what we girls like.

Soft serve.

Dark chocolate.

The last two times I was here, I only had the dark chocolate soft serve ice cream. At $3, it is a steal. Creamy, rich and relatively aerated, the ice cream lives up to its fantasy (in my ice-cream world).

Tried the burgers for the first time today. I went with the mushroom beef burger while Dot had the wasabi butterfish.

Add $1 for fried russet potato crisps. Perfect junk food (no wait, they position themselves as fast food that’s real. really. look at their chalkboard display) to celebrate your Mondays. Real comfort food for the urbanite. Noticed quite a few gym bunnies when we were there. The marketing worked. There’s even a burger that’s supposedly high in protein and complex carb. Neat. I hope it tastes good 🙂

My burger was faultless. Could have been bigger but then again, I wouldn’t have had space for the decadent chocolate peanut butter cake if it was so. Juicy mushrooms and ample cheese with flavourful  beef patty. Note to self – request for medium rare next time. Wolfed it down within minutes because I was very hungry (this was around 9.30pm).

Wasabi butterfish is a good ‘lady-burger’. Not as heavy as others but it still tasted good. Had a bite and really enjoyed the zangy wasabi sauce.

Dot and I like the concept and the burgers. The convenient location (for me at least) and late closing hour makes it a good dinner choice for hungry folks looking for a quick late night supper.

For us, we also like burger bench and bar because of other reasons.

We will be back to try the other burgers. Next on my ‘to-eat list’ is the cheese burger with caramelised onions.

A “lady” burger? haha, I’m a lady, but I think I would go for your beefy burger. I can’t wait to hit this place up when I visit Singapore!
