PENFOLDS Wine Ambassador Jane Gibbs from the home of PENFOLDS in the Barossa Valley was in Singapore and she conducted  special media classes on:

1. The Beginner’s Guide on How to Taste Wine like a Pro
2. Learn the Secrets of Food & Wine Pairing for your Festive Fare.

Being the wine noob that I was, I thought it a good idea to attend both classes to educate myself.

I will write more later. But these are the few notes that I took, regarding food & wine pairing:

Chardonnay – pairs well with citrus (lemon brings out sweetness of this white wine)
Shiraz – pairs well with salt (suggested pairing: beef lightly marinated with salt)
Cabernet Merot – pairs well with tomato, spicy flavours (suggested pairing: olive drizzled roasted tomatoes)
Cabernet Sauvigno – good with fatty meats, like pork (most ideal would be tontoro of course)
The PENFOLDS luxury wine lounge will be at ION orchard, between Miu Miu and Omega until Sunday. Do drop by for a lesson on wine appreciation. Featuring Australia’s most collectable wines including the internationally renowned PENFOLDS Grange.
