Gorgeous Sunday Picnic

Strawberries & Blueberries

Picnics calm me down.

When I feel I need a spot of serenity, I dig out my trusty picnic basket and drag whoever who’s up for random snacking in the middle of the green the lush.

Last year, I only had one picnic. But it was the picnic of all picnics.

It was the picnic of my dreams.

The person whom I ‘dragged’ along was a real sport. He was what made this picnic so special.

Girls, if there’s a boy you fancy but are not sure whether he’s right for you. Please please please bring him on a picnic date. If he says yes with no hesitation and then goes on to make those few peaceful hours blissful by making you feel like you’re the only girl in the world, then keep him, for a long time.

It never fails to work for me. Picnics are a perfect litmus test simply because there’s no distractions, no cover-up. If your date is dead-boring, no amount of flowers or jewelry can make up for that. On a picnic, it’s just you, your date, a cloth and some random supermarket food.

But if you and him/her truly truly enjoy yourself at the end of the picnic, then my gosh, you have more than fireworks – you have someone who will spice every dull moment of your life.

Watercrackers & Dips

Lucky is the girl whose boy is musically trained.

There is nothing more sexy than a guy strumming his guitar while you munch on water crackers smeared with hummus or a baguette stuffed with ham and goats cheese. Amidst lush greenery and a mid-afternoon breeze, the soft strumming of guitar strings just for you, becomes sweet sweet honey.

Picnic ham & goat cheese

Guitar

You could say I got what I wished for.

I’ve always wanted to be serenaded to. I love how he ‘composes’ random tunes for me.

Picnic Spread

If you ask me what’s my perfect date. This picnic would be it. It has been one of the best dates I’ve ever had.

Interestingly so, it is also the least expensive with the least fanfare.

Indeed, I am a lady of simple desires. Worldly pleasures never satisfy me. I am content with a bag of chips, some orange juice and the sun kissing my face…

Magnum mini

… And of course, some Magnum minis.

I like magnum mini

Relaxing picnic

That Sunday, we spent the entire afternoon and evening in each other’s company.

Writing

You know he’s right for you when the silence that hangs when you both pause feels extremely comfortable.

It is a cliche but it’s true – the moment you know it’s not just about fancy romantic words or actions. The fact that he is there and makes you feel special. That’s what I have searched for so long.

Possible song writer?

And I finally found it.

I couldn’t be happier.

Ever.

Hi Jen,

I can’t remember. I believe i should be Carrefour. If not, then it should be Cold Storage at Takashimaya. πŸ™‚

Hope this helps!

Hi Nini,

Thank you, you’re too kind. You can have picnics anywhere! You live in Melaka?
I have some Melakan roots. My dad’s from the town. Went there so often when I was younger. I’m so addicted to this homemade pineapple tarts my aunt orders from her neighbour. Lots of jam and the pastry crumbles just nicely. πŸ™‚

What’s your favourite Melaka food?
